Rio, June 22, 2004 (Agência Brasil) - Tomorrow (23), in New York (USA), the Minister of Science and Technology, Eduardo Campos, will inform American, Canadian, and Mexican businessmen about the progress that Brazil has made in the field of science and technology over the past 50 years. In his opinion, Brazil currently possesses the best system of science and technology in Latin America.
"We are making important strides to innovate in this area and to strengthen it with the economic growth cycle that the Brazilian government is initiating," the Minister emphasized.
Campos added that scientific production in Brazil is increasingly allied to the development of applied research. "Brazil has devised innovative mechanisms, recognized throughout the world, always respecting international norms to make the country more attractive to investors and assigning priority to the renewal of the university setting to aggregate greater value," he said.
Tomorrow (23), in New York, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, accompanied by several of his Ministers, will participate in the encounter "Brazil & Partners - Investment Opportunities," sponsored by the Brazilian government. The event seeks to convince businessmen that it is worthwhile to invest in Brazil.
The Ministers of Planning, Guido Mantega, Finance, Antônio Palocci, Mining and Energy, Dilma Rousseff, Tourism, Walfrido Mares Guia, Development, Luiz Fernando Furlan, and Agriculture, Roberto Rodrigues, will also address the entrepreneurs in New York on Brazil's achievements in the economic and social spheres.
