Brasília, May 13, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Sectorial Chamber of the Productive Chain of Corn, Sorghum, Poultry, and Swine will be installed today during the AveSui (Latin American Poultry and Swine Industry Fair), in Florianópolis. "The objective of the sectorial chamber is to seek equilibrium in the chain, discussing and presenting solutions for some of the chronic problems of the sectors, such as the supply of corn, a basic input for the production of meat and eggs," affirmed the executive secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (Mapa), José Amauri Dimarzio.
According to him, the production of poultry and swine are strategic sectors for the country. Aside from supplying the domestic market with good quality, inexpensive proteins, they have contributed to the growth of Brazilian exports. In 2002 foreign sales of poultry and pork established a new record, totalling around US$ 2 billion. (DAS)
