Emergency service is inaugurated in DF

Brasília - Today president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, minister of Health, Saraiva Felipe, and the governor of the Distrito Federal, Joaquim Roriz, will inaugurate an Emergency Assistance Service (Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência) (Samu/192) in the DF.

With Samu in operation, the 2.2 million inhabitants of Brasilia will have access to mobile pre- hospital emergency assistance. The mobile units will consist of doctors, nurses and nurse assistants. The Samu proposal is to provide quick aid for people in risk situations following accidents or other urgent health problems anywhere in the area.
