Brasília, 8/21/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Brazil's international reserves closed out the month of July at US$47.645 billion, down US$311 million from the close at the end of June.
According to the head of the Economic Department at the Central Bank, Altamir Lopes, Brazil's total foreign debt is now at US$216.9 billion. Out of that total, US$194.5 billion is medium- and long- term debt, and the remaining US$22.4 billion is short-term. Lopes reports that there was a reduction of US$590 million in Brazil's short-term debt, while the long-term debt rose US$2.8 billion. (AB)
