Brasília - The Ministry of Foreign Relations says that if the Brazilian, Jean Charles de Menezes, was in England illegally the fact should not influence investigations into his death. Menezes was shot by London police on Friday, July 22, after they mistakenly identified him as a possible suicide bomber. The note says: "Nothing alters the responsibility of British authorities in the tragic death of an innocent, peaceful Brazilian."

Jean Charles de Menezes will be buried this afternoon in his hometown of Gonzaga, Minas Gerais.
