Rio, July 15, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - After England, Italy will be won over by a summer product typical of Rio de Janeiro. The Mixed Rural Producers Cooperative of Quissamã, part of the State of Rio's Frutification Program, exported 10,080 coconuts to Genoa. For the state secretary of Agriculture, Christino Áureo, regular coconut exports to Europe, as well as constituting an important victory for the state's agricultural economy, attest the success of the agrobusiness policy implanted by the Frutification Program. The project has given rise to around 4 thousand hectares of irrigated fruit cultivation in the North/Northeast and Coastal Lowlands regions of the state. (DAS)
