Retired judge convicted of malversation is sentenced to 8 years

São Paulo, 1 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Retired judge, Nicolau dos Santos Neto, one of the accused in a case of malversation involving R$ 169.74 million (US$ 61.8 million) which was to be used to build a labor court building in São Paulo, was sentenced on Friday to 8 years and a fine of R$1.9 million (US$700,000). With the sentence, Santos Neto is also subject to asset confiscation, losing an apartment in Miami and money deposited in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands. (AB)
