Rio, 1 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Minister of Finance, Pedro Malan, said Friday that he expects the transition from the Cardoso administration to the next one to be as calm as possible. Once again, Malan called for the maintenance of present fiscal, monetary and exchange rate regimes, pointing out that their consolidation is essential for the country. As for world turbulence nowadays, Malan said that it is important for Brazil not to allow itself to become "a passive victim of declarations from abroad," adding that "the fundamental battles will be lost or won on the domestic front."
