Brasilia, 25 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The national pre-convention of the PSDB party, held in Brasilia on Sunday, rendered official the candidacy of Senator and former Minister of Health Jose Serra to the presidency of Brazil. When speaking at the event, Serra listed 7 commitments for which he will fight if he becomes head of the government: truth, work, development, social justice, reduction of regional inequalities, public security and democracy.
In the pre-convention, the national president of the PSDB party, Jose Aníbal, read a message form President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, in which he declared that Brazil of 2002 is better off than Brazil of 1995, when he took office. According to him, the country is more agile, economically stable and transparent and is capable of taming foreign crises.
Cardoso said still that he's confident in Serra's candidacy, adding that the candidate will give continuity to the work underway. "I trust Serra because I know him as a friend and as a companion in many struggles," he stressed. (MW)
