Cardoso to meet with Polish executives in Warsaw

Warsaw (Poland), 25 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Fernando Henrique Cardoso said Sunday that he will participate of important meetings with Polish business executives in Warsaw. He said that Poland is purchasing a lot of merchandise from Brazil and pointed out that the country paid, in October of 2001, US$ 2.5 billion to Brazil, liquidating a debt of US$ 3.7 billion Poland had with Brazil since 1991.
Cardoso added that he has been keeping in touch for some years with the president of Poland, Aleksander Kwasniewski, whom he described as a man very interested in the restructuring of the architecture of finances and power in the world.
"Brazil is very interested in an increasingly greater approximation with Poland. Furthermore, we have a very significant Polish population in Brazil, with more than 1 million descendants. So we have deep ties of friendship with Poland," the president concluded. (MW)
