Invasion by landless rural workers

Brasília - Today the Chamber of Deputies' Farm and Rural Development Commission (Comissão de Agricultura, Pecuária, Abastecimento e Desenvolvimento Rural) will hold hearings on the destruction which occurred when some 500 members of the Movement for Liberation of the Landless (MLST) invaded the Congress earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the Federal Police have indicted an additional 73 people because they were directly involved in the invasion and its planning.

With the new indictments, a total of 115 people have been formally charged in the case. Forty-two of them remain in custody at the Papuda prison in the Federal District.
