São Paulo – Embraer (Brazilian aircraft manufacturer) announced Monday (25) that Saudi Arabian Airlines has ordered 15 airplanes model Embraer 170. The US$400 million final contract will be signed Wednesday (27), in Riad, capital of Saudi Arabia. The first units will be delivered December 2005. Airplanes will be used in that company’s regional and domestic markets.
All airplanes requested by Saudi Arabian Airlines will be configured to have 66 seats and to offer services for two passenger classes. Embraer is the world manufacturing leader of commercial jets with up to 110 seats. With this sale, Saudi Arabian Airlines will become the first client of this Embraer aircraft model in the Middle East.
Saudi Arabian Airlines General Director, Khaled A. Bem-Bakr, says that this purchase "reflects the level of confidence" his company has on Embraer as "a manufacturing leader of commercial jets."
