Seminars on education in rural areas set to begin

Brasília - The Secretariat for Educational Inclusion (Secrie) has established education in rural areas as its priority for 2004. It is working together with state secretaries of Education on seminars to deal with the issue. Six dates have been set for state seminars, twenty-one remain to be decided on [Brazil has 27 states]. The seminars will set up operational guidelines for elementary education in rural areas and discuss the implementation of those guidelines. (AB)
