Brasília - The Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social) (BNDES) has been authorized to release R$2 billion for the Modercarga program which will finance a modenization of Brazil's fleet of trucks.

The government is very interested in getting the program into gear as quickly as possible. The average age of trucks on Brazilian highways that transport goods is 18 years. Modercarga will make it possible for people to buy new trucks, reducing the cost of transportation and the amount of produce lost. (AB)
