Brasília, June 17, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Judiciary and the Attorney General's Office deserve separate treatment in the reform of social security, affirmed Attorney General, Geraldo Brindeiro, after a meeting on Monday (16) with representatives of associations from both the Attorney General's Office and the Judiciary, who delivered him a document criticizing items of the reform.

According to Brindeiro, "some organs of the State cannot be placed in a common bundle, in a reform that is certainly necessary and which has to be made to guarantee social security in the country. But not at the expense of disorganizing the Judiciary and the Attorney General's Office," the Attorney General said, emphasizing that the malfunctioning of the magistracy and the Attorney General's Office could have unforeseeable consequences for the country.

In the document handed to Brindeiro, the entities that represent judges and federal attorneys call for retirement at full salary, parity between salaries paid active and retired workers, and the maintenance of a transition rule that guarantees the current situation of magistrates and members of the Attorney General's Office.
