Brasília, November 20, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Beginning today, Radiobrás radio stations will include in their daily broadcast schedule news programs from Radio France International (RFI), translated into Portuguese. The RFI receiver was inaugurated today in a ceremony attended by the president of Radiobrás, Carlos Zarur, the French ambassador to Brazil, Alain Rouquie, the director of International Relations at the RFI, Georges Lory, and the professional in charge of the Brazilian edition at the RFI, Milton Blay.

The inauguration is part of an agreement signed this year on April 25. Since then the RFI has been using material produced by the Rádio Nacional and the Agência Brasil. For Zarur, the initiative will consolidate cultural exchange between the two countries.

Zarur also pointed out that the RFI is one of the symbols of public radio across the world. "The RFI is very important for the transmission of European and African news in Brazil, and Radiobrás will be a privileged distributor of this information," he added. (DAS)
