IMF official says that PT's economic program has some affinities with the Fund

Brasília, November 20, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The assistant director of the Western Hemisphere Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Lorenzo Perez, affirmed today, upon leaving a meeting with the minister of Finance, Pedro Malan, and the president of the Central Bank, Armínio Fraga, that the economic program of the PT has some affinities with the IMF. He cited, for example, fiscal policy and the campaign against inflation.

Perez added that during the meeting with Malan and Fraga, changes in the primary surplus target were not discussed. (DAS)
