Brasília, November 21, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The head of the Special Secretariat for Urban Development, Ovídio de Angelis, and representatives of transportation organizations in the public and private sector have signed the Common Agenda for Improved Urban Circulation which is part of the National Policy for Urban Transportation.

Angelis cited three presidential decrees as proof of governmental support for the effort: the revision of urban transportation policy, funding provisions for the sector, and measures to organize urban transportation in Brazil. He said transportation "is not just a question of development, it is also a matter of quality of life, especially for low-income families, which makes it even more important." (AB)
