Brasília, November 13, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The PSB released a note today manifesting support for the administration of president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (popularly known as Lula), because it recognizes that his program has points in common with the party, which presented Anthony Garotinho as presidential candidate. The PSB declares that conversations held before the run-off elections led the party to support Lula "without any conditions, based on an understanding that the president-elect has and should have complete liberty to form his government, using the powers that he was granted by the great majority of voters."
"The president-elect's proposal to build a consensus involving all of society in favor of a basic minimum agenda should receive the PSB's support, although we are aware of the difficulties inherent in this task in a situation of extreme economic and political vulnerability," says the note.
Nevertheless, the PSB declares that "recognizing points in common does not mean that we have no differences, expressed in the campaign of our presidential candidate and other of our companions who ran for elective office." (DAS)
