Half the business community does not trust candidates

São Paulo, 18 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A survey on the economy and the presidential candidates conducted by the São Paulo Industrial Federation, Fiesp, found that 50% of the 411 businessmen interviewed had doubts about the competency of all of the candidates, 31% said they had doubts about their proposals and platforms, and 15% said they were concerned with the lack of details regarding those proposals and platform positions.

According to the survey, from the businessman's point of view, the number one priority was tax reform (cited by 79%). Other most important issues are: industrial policy (20%), price stability (19%), corruption combat (18%), and investments in social assistance (18%).

According to 53% of those interviewed, market jitters due to the presidential race, are not justified. As for exchange rate variations, 58% said they have been detrimental, 28% said they did not make any difference, and 12% said they considered the variations positive. (AB)
