Brasília, 18 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - US Secretary of Treasury, Paul O'Neill, will visit Brazil in August. According to minister of Finance, Pedro Malan, O'Neill said he wanted to know more about Brazil last year and phoned a few days ago saying he intended to visit the country.

Malan denied any connection between the visit and declarations he (O'Neill) made in the US to the effect that he was opposed to new agreements with the IMF. He explained that O'Neill released a note clarifying his comments. "We have always had the support of the American administration and continue to have it," said Malan. (AB)
