Brasília, 18 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Because of an impasse due to a clause which called for numbering all books and records made in Brazil, something considered impossible by record companies, president Cardoso has vetoed a bill on the matter and set up a work group to deal with it.

According to presidential spokesman, Alexandre Parola, the president has set up the work group to ensure that artist's and scientist's rights are protected. In spite of the veto, the president intends to keep the "spirit" of the law and expects a solution within a month. (AB)
