Brasília, 18 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - In a speech before some 400 mayors and city authorities, president Fernando Henrique Cardoso came out strongly in defense of the Accountability Law (Lei de Responsabilidade Fiscal) saying, "This law speaks in the language of a State that is responsible.
The basic rule of this new language is a balanced budget, the cornerstone of good administration," said the president as he awarded 60 certificates for Responsible Fiscal Management. "We have to get beyond this habit of spending more than you earn." (AB)
