Brasília, 10 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - "Today family farming accounts for 60% of national farm produce and 75% of the rural labor force. We must make this sector sustainable," declared the secretary for Land Reform, Edson Vismona, at a seminar discussing a Development Plan for Rural Brazil.

With the plan, the Sustainable Rural Development Council (CNDRS) will set goals and guidelines for land ownership, strengthening family farming, economic diversification of rural activities and technological development.

The plan should be ready in November and will go to the new administration for inclusion in its multi-year plan 2003 which will be used in drawing up the budget. (AB)
