Rio, 11 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - A rising dollar and falling temperatures are blamed for June inflation of 1.74% as measured by the General Price Index - Domestic Availability (IGP-DI), which is conducted by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). That was an increase of 0.63 percentage points over the IGP-DI for May.
According to Sidney Cota, head of the FGV Price Studies Center, because of freezing weather wholesale prices for farm produce rose 4.57% in June, compared to 0.85% in May. Meanwhile, the dollar pushed manufactured goods prices upward 1.74%, compared to 1.42% in May. The Wholesale Price Index itself rose 2.50% in June, compared to 1.17% in May. (AB)
