Paulo de Tarso Ramos Ribeiro takes office as new minister of Justice

Brasília, 11 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The new minister of Justice, Paulo de Tarso Ramos Ribeiro, took office yesterday saying he intends to continue the fight against crime. Ribeiro said he would schedule meetings with governors, state secretaries of security and other authorities for what he called a "civic crusade" against violence.

Ribeiro has been the secretary of Economic Rights at the Ministry of Justice since 1999. As for the problem of crime in Espirito Santo, he said he will create special police stations for Federal Police, expand regular police operations and increase intelligence gathering. (ASB)
