Rio de Janeiro, 4 (Agência Brasil – ABr) – Yesterday the secretary of Justice, João Benedicto de Azevedo, laid the cornerstone for the first Federal Custody House in Brazil at the Bangu maximum security prison in Rio. The new penitentiary will hold 336 prisoners serving sentences for federal crimes, 283 will be men, 53 women. The prison will cost R$5.2 million (US$1.9 million) and is to be completed in 4 months.
