Brasília, 26 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Poor children in Cidade Ocidental and Formosa, cities surrounding Brasília, who are in the School Scholarship program, will receive US$77,500 from the Japanese government to be used in classes and material for computers. The contract for the grant was signed by former Federal District governor, Cristovam Buarque, who heads the NGO, Missão Criança, and Keiji Yamamoto, of the Japanese embassy representing the Japanese Program for Assistance to Community Projects (PAC). Buarque declared that nowadays it is as important to teach kids computer skills as it was to learn multiplication tables when he was young. (AB)
