Brasília, 26 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - According to the Central Bank, in January the government spent a total of R$ 8.101 billion (US$ 3,3 billion) on interest payments, compared to R$ 8.335 billion (US$ 3.45 billion), during the same period in 2001. The Central Government paid out R$ 5.242 billion (US$ 2.2 billion), while states and municipals paid R$ 2.145 billion (US$ 880 million) in interest payments, while state-run enterprises paid R$ 714 million (US$ 294.5 million).
