Kraków, 26 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Today president Fernando Henrique Cardoso commented on the fact that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has decided not to help Argentina at this time. Cardoso said he believed that assistance will become necessary but aded that, under some circumstances, there is no point in releasing funds without knowing how they will be used.

Cardoso said Argentina was making an effort to reorganize its economy and that at this moment what it needs is a sign that help will be available when the government has prepared an economic program. He also said that, at the right moment, the IMF would help Argentina. "That is what interests us," he said. (AB)
