Brasilia, 26 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Federal government officials who are going to run for elected office in October of this year will have to follow some norms established by the government's Public Ethics Committee in order to maintain appropriate conduct in the execution of their activities. The measures included in the resolution published by the Committee reinforce the federal government's resolve to avoid unethical behavior by civil servants - be it during the election period or in their day-to-day jobs in the government. The deadline for government officials to resign from their current posts and to dedicate themselves exclusively to their campaigns ends April 5.

The resolution authorizes officials to participate of electoral events as long as they maintain ethical principles and do not break the electoral laws in effect. Among the committee's recommendations is that officials not use public goods and services for their own electoral purposes and do not take advantage of business trips to participate of political-electoral events.
