Stockholm, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Fernando Hernique Cardoso announced today that during the Stockholm Summit on Progressive Governance he will present Brazil's School Scholarship program as a plan that can be used everywhere. "President Clinton will make a trip to Africa with a Brazilian delegation, and he is a fan of the program," reported Cardoso.

In explaining the focus of the summit, president Cardoso said that it was two-pronged: the world financial system, with the spotlight on problems such as those in Argentina; and poverty in Africa. "We have poverty in Brazil, but it is different. In the case of Africa, globalization has been very cruel. It has benefitted some areas, including some in Brazil. But it has also marginalized millions and millions of people," said Cardoso. (AB)
