Brasília, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The government's new Gas-help plan (Auxílio-Gás) is expected to eventually reach 9.3 million families at a cost of R$950 million. Families with monthly incomes of up to R$90 (US$37) are eligible to receive R$15 (US$6) every two months to cover the recent price increase in so-called kitchen gas (actually LPG - liquefied petroleum gas) which almost all Brazilians use for cooking.
Payments will begin today to an estimated 4.8 million registered families in a first stage of the plan. (AB)
