Brasília, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Federal Police report that today they detained a 12-year old Columbian boy carrying a rifle and ammunition as he crossed the Japurá River in a canoe. The rifle was made in South Korea. The boy was taken into custody at the Bittencourt (Amazonas)police station. After completing legal procedures, he was turned over to Columbian authorities.

Because of the situation in Columbia there are 180 Federal Policemen in the region along with army personnel. After the boy was detained, all Brazilian forces were placed on a higher alert level. (AB)
