Rio de Janeiro, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The Rio Carnival balance sheet for 2002 was positive, says Jose Eduardo Guinle, city Tourism secretary and president of Riotur. A total of R$312 million (US$128.7 million) entered city coffers after 370,000 tourists visited the city, up 8% from last year. At the sambódromo, where the big parades take place, revenue was R$21 million (US$8.7 million), compared to R$19 million (US$7.8 million) in 2001. (AB)
