Rio de Janeiro, 22 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The director of infrastructure at the Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social) (BNDES), Octávio Castello Branco, says that renewed growth of the electricity sector will be based on private sector investments and "an inevitable increase in sector competitivity."
"The objective is get investments flowing back into the electricity sector. The BNDES has already earmarked R$800 million (US$330 million) for firms affected by rationing. These measures will improve the model so that we get a satisfactory investment flow. That will bring the cost of energy down," said Castello Branco. He also explained that the end of rationing on March 1 is bolstered by a 33-point plan. (AB)
