Cardoso answers questions of students at Oxford

Oxford, November 14, 2002 (Agência Brasil – ABr) – During a question session at Oxford yesterday, president Fernando Henrique Cardoso answered one student by saying that the progress achieved by his administration included consolidated democracy and economic stability.

Asked if his ideological position was right or left, Cardoso said that depended on the definition of left. If it meant someone in favor of social justice, then he, Cardoso, was on the left. If it meant state control, he was not on the left "because that position is out of date and you cannot turn the clock back." (AB)
