Rio, November 14, 2002(Agencia Brasil-ABr) – The National Steel Company (CSN) has announced that merger negotiations with the Anglo-Dutch group, Corus, have been broken off. According to CSN, difficulties in the world economy and international financial markets were cited by Corus as the reason.

CSN reaffirmed its intention to continue seeking growth possibilities within the framework of an international growth strategy. It announced it will continue to increase its competitivity. (AB)
