Rio - The government statistical bureau's (IBGE) Monthly Employment Survey (Pesquisa Mensal de Emprego) found that May unemployment rose only 0.2 percentage points, compared to April, reaching 10.2% of the economically active population. The unemployment rate in Brazil has now been stable for a year.
Meanwhile there was a rise in real wages of 1.3% in May, compared to April, and 7.7% when compared to May 2005. Real wages have now risen for ten consecutive months.
