Rio - Petrobras' director of Supply, Paulo Roberto Costa, announced that the Brazilian government-run oil company plans to participate in the bidding process in Egypt for drilling rights to two blocks with natural gas production potential in the Suez Canal. The company expects to submit its proposals to the Egyptian government by the end of this month. The announcement came at yesterday's (2) opening of the Regional Forum of the World Energy Council, in Rio de Janeiro.

At the end of January, Petrobras declared that it would soon begin petroleum exploration and production activities in Turkey. According to a note to the press, the company won the right to operate two petroleum blocks in the Black Sea, which lies on the frontier between Asia and Europe. The project is an equal partnership with the Turkish petroleum company, Turkýye Petrollerý Anoným Ortaklidi (TPAO).
