Brasília, 7/7/2004 (Agência Brasil) - The Brazilian Fruit Institute (Ibraf) and the Export Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), together with the Carrefour supermarket group, will be holding Brazilian Fruit Festivals around the world. The objective is to boost exports of Brazilian fruit by opening markets and increasing sales.

Sixty fruit producers will exhibit their goods in 16 countries in Europe, the Mideast, Asia and the Americas. The first festivals will be in Belguim, Spain and Poland.

During the festivals, consumers will be able to taste Brazilian fruits, such as mango, papaya, lemon, banana, melons, grapes and apples.

In 2003, Brazil exported US$85.7 million (R$267 million) in fruits. This year the goal is to export US$117.1 million (R$357 million).
