Brasília, March 5, 2004 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The mayor of Manaus, Alfredo Nascimento (PL), announced today that he will be the new Minister of Transportation. He will replace Anderson Adauto, who will leave the post in the next few days in order to run for mayor in Uberaba (MG). According to Nascimento, the invitation was made official today by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during a meeting in the Planalto Palace. Speaking to reporters on his way out of the meeting, Nascimento confirmed his acceptance of the appointment. He should take over the post on March 15. (DAS)
