Brasília, March 11, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Yesterday (10), the president of the Federal Labor Court, Francisco Fausto, requested the president of the Chamber of Deputies, João Paulo Cunha (PT-SP), to ask the Legislature to speed up approval of the Constitutional Amendment (PEC) that determines the confiscation of property belonging to those who exploit slave labor.
"It is important for the Chamber of Deputies to assign urgency to the bill, since, in our current legislation, we don't have adequate measures to combat slave labor," the TST president argued. "Some judges are sentencing those responsible for this kind of exploitation to pay food kits. For those who have money, this doesn't amount to beans," he declared. (DAS)
