Brasília, 12/4/2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The government's chief prosecutor (procurador-geral da República), Geraldo Brindeiro, has emitted a dispositional report on the case of Mexican singer Gloria Trevi, in which he states that there are no longer any legal reasons her extradiction should not proceed. This follows the announcement of formal desistance by the singer of any further legal opposition to her extradiction. In December 2000, the Brazilian Supreme Court ruled in favor of her extradiction; however, since then the case has been subjected to a series of lawsuits and counter-lawsuits. (AB)
