Brasília, 9/12/2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - El endeudamiento interno del gobierno federal debe crecer el 19,76% el próximo año, llegando a R$ 884.100 millones. La preocupación con este salto de la deuda en títulos del Tesoro Nacional fue uno de los puntos de mayor destaque del informe sectorial sobre la propuesta presupuestaria de los Ministerios de Hacienda y de Desarrollo, Industria y Comercio Exterior, que acogió 60 enmiendas y obtuvo recursos de R$ 140,358 millones de los 754,608 millones solicitados.

El valor de la deuda interna a amortiguar el próximo año se proyectó en R$ 582.300 millones, de los cuales 522.100 millones necesitan refinanciación, 512.300 millones bajo la responsabilidad del MInisterio de Hacienda y significan aumento de dotación del 138% en relación a 2002. El pago de interés debe consumir 93.600 millones en 2003. (JV)

Brasília, December 9, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The internal indebtedness of the federal government should grow 19.76% next year, attaining a balance of R$ 884.1 billion in December, 2003. Concern over this upward jump in Federal Treasury bill debt was one of the points highlighted in the sectorial report prepared by the Ministries of Finance and Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade on the budget proposal, which authorized 60 amendments, involving resources equivalent to R$ 140.358 million of the R$ 754.608 million solicited.

The value of the internal debt scheduled to be amortized next year was estimated at R$ 582.3 billion, of which R$ 522.1 billion will need to be refinanced. Of this total, the Ministry of Finance is responsible for R$ 512.3 billion, a 138% increase, compared with 2002. Interest payments should consume R$ 93.6 billion in 2003. (DAS)

Brasília, December 9, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Reform of the Judiciary is the central theme of the Meeting of Presidents of Federal Courts of Appeals from Portuguese-Speaking Countries, starting tomorrow (10), in the city of Praia, capital of Cape Verde. The president of the Federal Court of Appeals (STJ), Nilson Naves, will head the Brazilian delegation, which includes federal judge Jorge Antônio Maurique as debater.

During the working sessions, the condition of Justice in each country and the need for reforms in the Judiciary will be debated. Brazil will expound the principal items of the reform that is currently under scrutiny in the National Congress, the perspectives of the STJ and the Federal Council of Justice on this question, and Brazilian attempts to make Justice more agile, such as the creation of federal and state small claims courts. El presidente del Superior Tribunal de Justicia (STJ),Nilson Naves, encabeza la delegación brasileña que tendrá como ponente al juez federal Jorge Antonio Maurique.

Durante las reuniones de trabajo, se discute el estado de la justicia en cada país y la necesidad de reformas del poder. Brasil va a presentar los principales puntos de la reforma que tramita en el Congreso Nacional, la visión del STJ y del Consejo de Justicia Federal sobre el asunto y las experiencias brasileñas para agilizar la justicia, como la creación de juzgados especiales, federales y provinciales. Nueva York, 10/12/2002 (Agencia Brasil - ABr) - El presidente Fernando Henrique Cardoso recibió ayer el premio "Mahbub ul Haq", ofrecido por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), por el incentivo al desarrollo humano durante los ocho años de su gobierno. Fernando Henrique fue la primera personalidad mundial a recibir el premio, creado este año y que pasará a ser entregue a cada dos años a jefes de Estado y líderes mundiales que se hayan destacado en la implementación del desarrollo en la agenda política de sus países.

Este domingo, el presidente dijo a los periodistas, que el premio es un reconocimiento otorgado a Brasil - el país en desarrollo que registró los mejores indicadores de educación, salud y de acceso a la tierra con democracia y libertad. (AKR)

New York, 9.12.2002 (Agencia Brasil - ABr) - Brasiliens Präsident Fernando Henrique Cardoso bekommt heute den UNO-Preis "Mahbub ul Haq" durch seine Arbeit im Rahmen der menschlichen Entwicklung während seiner 8 jährigen Regierungzeit. Cardoso ist die erste internationale Persönlichkeit, die den Preis bekommt.

Laut ihm sei diese eine Anerkennung Brasiliens. Es handelt sich um das Entwicklungsland, dass die besten Indikatoren bei den Sektoren Bildung, Gesundheit und Zugang zu Land registrierte. (MNJ)

New York, December 9, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President Fernando Henrique Cardoso will be awarded today the "Mahbub ul Haq" prize, conferred by the United Nations (UN), for the stimulus given to human development during his eight years in office. Cardoso will be the first world figure to receive the prize, which was created this year and will be awarded every two years to heads of State and world leaders who have distinguished themselves in the implementation of development on their countries' political agenda.

Yesterday the president told Brazilian journalists that the prize is a recognition of Brazil - the developing country that registered the best indicators of education, health, and access to land, in an atmosphere of democracy and liberty. "Economic development was not what we wished, but, with solid social policies, it was possible, despite this and the stabilization policy we maintained over these years, to increase social expenditures and improve the quality of these expenditures," the president affirmed. São Paulo, 9.12.2002 (Agencia Brasil - ABr) - Der Sprecher des gewählten Präsidenten Brasiliens Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, André Singer, der Leiter des Übergangsteams, Antonio Palocci und der gewählte Senator der Arbeiterpartei (PT), Aloizio Mercadante, begleiten heute Lula in seiner Reise in die USA. Sie sagten, sie erwarten positive Ergebnisse bei den amerikanischen Behörden.

Was die Schaffung der Freihandelszone der Amerikas (FTAA) angeht, sagte Mercadante, man werde abwarten, denn der erste Vorschlag der Vereinigten Staaten gefällt seiner Partei nicht. Die USA erweiterten ihre Subventionen für die Landwirtschaft, was die Konkurrenzfähigkeit brasilianischer Produkte betreffe. (MNJ)
