Brasília, 4/21/2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and minister of Justice, Márcio Thomaz Bastos, have formally announced that the state of Espirito Santo will officially become part of the country's Unified Public Security System (SUSP) tomorrow. In order to joint the SUSP and gain access to funding (totalling R$404 million this year) states must present an integrated action plan. The principal characteristic of the SUSP is that it integrates action by the federal and state governments in the fight against violence. (AB)(AB)
