Brasília, March 6, 2003 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The International Criminal Court (ICC) will be instated on March 11, in the Hague, Netherlands. On February 4, Brazilian magistrate Sylvia Helena de Figueiredo Steiner, of the São Paulo Regional Federal Court, was elected member of the international court. According to information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the ICC represents a landmark in the evolution of modern international law, helping to establish order and norms to meet the concerns of world society in the areas of advancing and protecting human rights and international security.
