Brasília, December 9, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - Yesterday (8), the president of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Enrique Iglesias, urged president-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to maintain the achievements of Fernando Henrique Cardoso's two terms. For Iglesias, Brazil's problems will not end with the departure of the current administration, and, for this reason, Lula should "proceed with what has been done and do even more." The president of the IDB did not wish to use the term "continuity," but he stressed that Lula should firmly preserve the foundations built in the past. "To build on what was done is fundamental, as it is to preserve the good things," he said. (DAS)
