Brasília, November 25, 2002 (Agência Brasil - ABr) - The European Economic Community is negotiating with the Environment Institute (Ibama) Forest Products Lab (LPF) the purchase of technology for the generation of energy through clean biomass sources to be used in tropical countries, mainly in Asia and Africa. The EEC will assist Brazil in exporting the technology and advertising its existence.
France is negotiating briquettes of compacted sawdust and vegetable peelings developed at LPF by Waldir Ferreira Quirino who says 30 of his briquettes can furnish 100KW/h per month of electricity. There is the added benefit that Quirino's raw material no longer rots in the open air causing pollution. (AB)
