Brasilia, November 20, 2002 (Agencia Brasil ABr) - The coordinator of the goverment-elect's transition team, Antonio Palocci, says that president-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's election victory showed "clearly" that the Brazilian people want changes in the social area.

Palocci made his comment yesterday after a meeting with the International Monetary Fund mission which is currently in Brazil. He told the IMF that emergency measures in the social area cannot be postponed and that they will be implemented when the Lula adminstration takes office next year. (AB)
